REST API Integrations / KNOWLEDGE BASE
REST API Integrations for a Website: CRM, Payments, Delivery, and Services
APIs allow a web project to exchange data with CRM, payment providers, delivery services, analytics, ERP, and other platforms without manual data transfer.
Validate the API before estimating
Documentation should describe endpoints, authentication, data formats, rate limits, errors, and testing environments.
Before estimating development, confirm that the external API actually supports the required business operation rather than assuming integration is possible because an API exists.
Define CRM and ERP synchronization
A website may send leads, orders, customers, payments, or statuses to internal systems and receive prices, inventory, reference data, or business rules in return.
Define the source of truth for each data type so systems do not overwrite the same information unpredictably.
Treat webhooks as production events
Payment and delivery providers often report state changes through webhooks. Requests should be authenticated where possible, logged, and processed idempotently.
A repeated webhook must not create a second order, reserve inventory twice, or execute another critical action twice.
Design for external failures
External services can be slow, unavailable, or return temporary errors. The integration should define timeouts, retries, queues, and user-visible behavior.
Important integrations also need logging, monitoring, and a controlled way to replay failed operations.
Plan or build your web system
Define the MVP, architecture, integrations, timeline, and budget before moving into production development.
